About This Production

Fifty-something and in between jobs, Maude spends her last few dollars on a thrift store painting which she’s convinced is a Jackson Pollock worth millions. When renowned art expert Lionel Percy arrives at her trailer park home in Bakersfield to authenticate the painting, cultures and class attitudes collide. Stephen Sachs’ colorful new comic drama asks what makes art—and the people who create it—truly authentic.

Critic and Audience Reviews

This is such a good play and a good production, wonderfully designed, directed and acted. You need to put this on your short list. Go see it.

-Pam Harbaugh, Brevard Culture

A clearly stated, thought-provoking and cleverly funny examination of the value of art, self-worth, people’s ability to create their own reality, society’s reliance on ‘experts’ and the nature of criticism.

-Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel

In addition to the superb performances by Brady and Hering, you’ll love the great set design of Maude’s home. Keep scanning the house, and you’ll repeatedly spot something that makes you laugh.

-Michael Freeman, Freeline Media
