Orlando Shakespeare Theater seeks an experienced Lighting Designer for our upcoming production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Anna in the Tropics by Nilo Cruz.

- Location: Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Orlando, FL
Position Description
We are seeking a creative and collaborative Lighting Designer to create an evocative lighting design that captures the atmosphere of 1929 Florida and a Cuban-American cigar factory where a lector reads Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina” to the workers. The ideal candidate will work closely with the director and design team to develop a cohesive visual language that enhances the production’s themes of passion, tradition, and transformation.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the director and design team during pre-production
- Create comprehensive lighting plots, paperwork, and cue sheets
- Attend design meetings, technical rehearsals, and previews
- Oversee the implementation of the lighting design
- Work within the allocated budget
- Ensure all lighting equipment is properly installed and functioning
Qualifications
- Previous professional lighting design experience
- Portfolio demonstrating versatility and artistic vision
- Strong understanding of lighting technology and programming
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work within deadlines and budget constraints

Compensation
