Public Relations & Marketing Manager

Orlando Shakes in partnership with UCF, Central Florida’s leading professional regional theater company, is searching for a full-time Public Relations & Marketing Manager to join its in-house publicity team.

Under the direction of the Director of Public Relations & Marketing, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing Orlando Shakes’ social media, daily and weekly e-news (promotional eblasts) bulletins, image, creative and written content for promotional materials, and in-house video and photography.

The Public Relations & Marketing Manager will also assist with media relations, event management, community relations, and external events.

 

Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Distribution

  • Drafts, edits, and distributes content, including articles, press releases, newsletters and social media posts, web content and marketing copy.
  • Coordinate with Orlando Shakes’ leaders, colleagues, show directors and stage managers, actors, and creative teams to gather information and stories that highlight Orlando Shakes’ achievements and initiatives.
  • Proactively write, design, and distribute/post social media, email and web posts about Orlando Shakes news, events, and people.
  • Develop and edit content for print publications, e.g. annual view book, and show and event programs.
  • Create images / designs for use on social media and web platforms via Canva, Adobe, or other design platforms.

Photography and Videography

  • Take photographs and videos for use on Orlando Shakes’ website and social media platforms.
  • Film and post archival video footage of respective Orlando Shakes’ shows.
  • Assist with video editing, when applicable.
  • Assists in photography and videography of events and activities; provide photo and video support during respective internal and external events, e.g. Opening Nights, Gala, cabaret concerts, off-site events, etc.

Media Relations

  • Monitor media coverage and social media engagement and compile analytics and reports to gauge the effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Assist in responding to media inquiries.
  • Prepares staff / leadership / creative teams / actors for media opportunities.
  • Assist in planning and implementing media day events.
  • Represent Orlando Shakes at various media outlets for interviews and publicity opportunities.
    And other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Relations and Marketing and/or Managing Director.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Google Suite, Canva, media and social media monitoring platforms, content management platforms with the ability to learn new computer programs and software systems.
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and content creation across various formats (press releases, web articles, social media posts, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse groups including Board members, onsite colleagues, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with a high level of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Thorough knowledge of appropriate editorial style, e.g. AP style and publication guidelines.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment required.
  • Willingness and understanding to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to manage a variety of projects and requests quickly and efficiently. Able to multi-task projects concurrently, while maintaining quality.

Education / Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Sport Management, or a related field and/or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a communications, public relations, or marketing role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience generating content for a media outlet as a journalist; or as a public relations/communications professional producing content for an organization, business, nonprofit, or clients.
  • Familiarity with the art, culture, and/or entertainment (e.g. live events, professional or intercollegiate athletics, theme parks, etc.) environment.
  • Ability to capture photos and video

Additional notes:

  • This position is for a full-time, exempt “Public Relations & Marketing Manager” on-site at Orlando Shakes’ Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Loch Haven Park.
  • The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, a team player, and has the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to take feedback from multiple sources and translate that into meaningful improvements.
  • Reports to the Director of Public Relations & Marketing
  • Works alongside communications and marketing colleagues and consultants, photographers, web designers, and graphic design consultants, Box Office, audience development, community relations, and Development colleagues.

POSITION TITLE: Education Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Support all activities and operations of the Education Department, including Children’s Series productions, Camps & Community Class programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Contribute and assist to the overall growth, marketing, and development of the Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s Education department.
  • Research Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) plays via scripts and local productions.
  • Oversee play selection and rights negotiation for the Children’s Series based on quantitative research through surveys, feedback, and national trends.
  • Develop relationships with publishing houses to obtain rights and negotiate royalties for Children’s Series productions.
  • Creating informative study guides for each production based on Florida Standards.
  • Administrate community classes and camps throughout the year, including being the on-site staff member while classes and camps are occurring.
  • Teach select K-12 Saturday and Summer Camps when needed.
  • Assist in school workshops (Shakespeare Alive and Books Alive)  for schools through scheduling and providing training to interns and contracted teachers.
  • Oversee weekly schedules for Acting/Education Interns.
  • Interview, onboard, train and schedule Summer Education Interns.
  • Assist in coordination and training of any interns during the season.
  • Assist in seeking new funding sources of Education programming and expansion of programming to additional counties.
  • Contribute to the scheduling and marketing of school matinee performances, as well as assisting in the pre-show and post-show discussions.
  • Coordinate with local teachers to encourage and enhance Shakespeare being taught and produced in the schools.
  • Manage United Arts Invoicing for educational programming.
  • Manage Sensory Friendly programming.
  • Help load and unload buses during field trip performances.
  • Directing and performance opportunities based on experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, general budgeting and word processing, and ticketing system and classroom software.

Assistant Box Office Manager

ORLANDO, FL

$16 ‒ $17 Hourly

Overall Job Responsibilities

The Assistant Box Office Manager ensures the efficient operations of the Orlando Shakes Box Office working with the Spectrix Box Office software.  This position is responsible for supporting the overall box office functions including season set up, subscription and single ticket sales, coordination of student field trips, while providing excellent customer service to all our audiences.

Specific Tasks

  • Answer telephones and complete ticket purchases
  • Manage box office email, voicemail, and respond to all inquiries
  • Manage any ticket donation requests
  • Lead the field trip ticket requests and manage the field trip sheet
  • Print out and organize tickets mail or pick up
  • Distribute Will Call tickets, reprint tickets, and assist guests as needed during shows
  • Be familiar with the season, theaters, and overall operations
  • Manage invoicing and payment for tickets as necessary
  • Manage the box office when Box Office Manager is out and for smaller events.

Skills

  • Proficient in Spectrix or other box office/ticketing software
  • Highly proficient in Google G-suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to document well, reconcile financial information and keep excellent records.
  • The ability to anticipate needed services, organize pertinent information and communicate effectively with everyone.
  • Ability to function both independently and as a team member.
  • A demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, solve problems and make decisions and work with minimum instruction or supervision.
